At East Midlands Dog Training, I believe in the power of positive reinforcement training. I also start with going back to basics and implementing 5 essential rules, these rules are fundamental to you and your dog's relationship. I use rewards-based techniques to encourage dogs to learn new behaviours and commands. I know that training will be enjoyable for both dogs and their owners, and my methods have always reflected this.
I offer One to One behaviour programmes that are designed to help dogs overcome unwanted behaviours such as aggression, separation anxiety, and fear. I use a combination of the 5 essential rules and training techniques to help dogs learn new coping mechanisms and develop positive associations.
Holistic training encompasses all aspects relating to your dog, including age, breed, sex, diet, exercise, routines and environment.
Hi, I'm Donna and the owner of East Midlands Dog Training. I have owned dogs for most of my adult life & I currently have three Cockapoos, Edie, Bertie and Flossie, who have helped me on my journey after starting EMDT in 2017 and restarting my work, after a short break.
In 2014, I took the brave step to return to education and study a BSc in Animal Management (Honours) Degree (as a mature student), completing in June 2017, with 1st Class Honours.
This turned out to be a wonderful and eye-opening experience. I studied so many different and interesting units including: Health & Welfare, Animal Nutrition, Dog Training, Animal Behaviour, Business, Teaching, Biology and Physiology, as well as undertaking my own dissertation on stress, anxiety and aggression in dogs.
During university we had a talk from a wonderful gentleman, Colin Tomlinson, who unbeknown to us both, would become my mentor for the last two years at university. He is a dog behaviourist and has studied dog nutrition in great depth. It was with his support that I started East Midlands Dog Training.
I offer one 2 one dog behavioural training, assessing both you and your dog’s needs, then creating a tailor-made training plan offering support along the way.

At East Midlands Dog Training, I offer a professional dog training service that is designed to help your furry friend become a well-behaved and obedient companion. I use positive reinforcement techniques to teach you and your dogs new skills and correct unwanted behaviours. I also help you to implement the 5 essential rules.
I understand that every dog is unique, which is why I offer customised training programmes that are tailored to meet the specific needs of each dog and their owner. I will work closely with you to identify the areas that need improvement and develop a training plan that is effective and enjoyable for both you and your dog.
I am qualified with an Honours degree in Animal Management and have years of experience working with dogs of all breeds and ages. I am constantly keeping up to date and I research effective methods. I am passionate about helping dogs reach their full potential and work tirelessly to ensure that every dog receives the best possible care and attention.
